Isn't it crazy how we have decided to care about Olympic sports only because we attach an idea of patriotism to a particular contest. Anyone who spent more than 15 minutes watching the sport of curling last week only did so because they believe in some form of the Olympic ideal, and not because they're nuts about Curling. Curling teams aren't even nuts about curling. It would have been fun if the US had beaten Canada in... more.

This year's NBA Slam Dunk contest may have been the worst ever and at this pace the event will be on life support in a few years. Here's my idea on how we shake things up and breathe some new life into what is fast becoming an unwatchable event. Have seven competitors, three new NBA players (rookies, and relatively unknown guys like they have now), the defending champion (who must return if not injured unless he's... more.

The Super Bowl is over and I can't really say that I was blown away by too many of the commercials this year. I'm giving top marks to The Late Show ad, "Startling", the Google ad, "Strangely Beautiful", and the Doritos spot with the kid (Let's just say I can relate).  By the way, is there anybody alive who doesn't like Doritos? Wow, it's amazing how popular you can become while remaining a mystery to the public. What's particularly damning about the Tiger Woods situation is that the only thing we know about him other than being the greatest golfer of our times is that he enjoys sleeping with several women that are not his wife. This may be damaging to some of the corporations who've forked over millions for Tiger to promote their products, and... more.

He's like me, except he's 7'6" and Chinese." - Steve Francis Few statements are more indicative of the unifying ability of athletics throughout the globe. It is likely that the decade will be remembered for how technology brought the world closer together and Yao Ming was symbolically one of the biggest beneficiaries of this. As for Steve Francis, he's just like me only he was a great... more.

Watching the Chargers/Steelers game on Sunday night I couldn't help but to think that we may have probably reached the point where Darren Sproles is a better running back than Ladanian Tomlinson. Sproles may be the smallest back in the NFL, which may be the reason he's only garnering playing time when Tomlinson is injured. At 5'6", he fits comfortably in the box of what many would label a third down back, which means... more.
