FAQs
Who is this site for?
ARHENETWORK.com was created for a multitude of users–including sports fans, sports professionals, businesses and companies, and professional athletes.
How did the idea for this site come about?
ARHE was conceived by Jason Woullard, a sports enthusiast, after reading Arthur Ashe’s three-volume book set, A Hard Road to Glory, wanted to learn more about the history of African Americans in sports. Upon researching numerous sources, the amount of information found was very little, which prompted Jason to create his own database. What started as hobby soon became a passion, and opened Jason’s eyes to a wealth of knowledge that continues to grow every day.
Why is the site called ARHE?
First and foremost, this site is inspired by late great Arthur Ashe; it is to be a continuation of his legacy, as well as other great athletes of his time. The word “ARHE” is derived from the first two letters of Ashe’s first name (AR) and the last two letters of his last name (HE). Jason put those letters together, and ARHE was born. With each athlete in this database being the heir apparent to another, Jason envisioned this site as the heir to Arthur Ashe. While we are not directly affiliated with Arthur Ashe, he is, without question, the inspiration for it.
Do we own the rights to the content posted on this site?
Some of the content is original (that is, ARHE got it straight from the athletes themselves) while other forms have been retrieved through a multitude of resources (the Internet, books, etc.). Credits are listed for each post along with copyright and owner information. If you believe ARHE or any user of this site has infringed your copyright in any material way, please notify us at info@jjwoullard.com.
How is ARHE different from other sports sites?
Sites like espn.com and si.com focus primarily on providing news and analysis. ARHE is the only website of its kind that provides a structure to search current, historical, and even future star athletes. ARHE will also provide information on coaches, front office personnel, style and fashion, marketing, and entertainment.
You say ARHE is for professional athletes as well. How so?
With the large volume of athlete- endorsed items, companies will look to introduce new products and purchase available advertising space. Professional athletes can make their profiles truly their own„by adding to it with content of their choosing. Such unique compilation of data can only be found on ARHE.
ARHE also positions itself as a resource for African American athletes. How do you plan to do that?
ARHE is designed to assist African Americans in getting positions in the field of sports. From coaches to athletic trainers, ARHE will be a primary resource tools when looking to get hired. On the opposite end, teams, organizations, and schools will use the database when searching for minority candidates.
Explain the research component to ARHE?
The data collected will be used for an assortment of research efforts. For producing news articles or even building your argument for a case study, the ARHE database will provide the information sought at the click of a mouse. There will also be an option of hiring the company to put together packages for your research requests.
